2017

Material: Wood, metal spring, steel, and magnet.

SATU is a jewellery set consists of a brooch and a neckpiece that are attachable.

It is a project that aims to emulate gender equality or co-existence, by inspired from the Minangkabau culture of Indonesia. The Minangkabau is the world's largest matrilineal tribe that believes in gender equality achieved by the equality in the difference of roles of men and women. With one man and woman wear either piece of the jewellery, the jewellery then can be attached to create a different neckpiece. It is to symbolise that men and women can be united and work together to create something. Hence, the project is called SATU which means One in Bahasa Indonesia.

The wooden pieces are connected with magnets through the metal spring, which allows a variety of different attachments of the neckpiece and brooch. The brooch has steel backing that sticks well with the magnet behind the brooch.
